Homeless Man Tithes 100% and gets back 100 Fold Return in about 2 weeks!

Super excited about this.... today, a homeless man we have been ministering to crossed our paths.
We got to hear amazing testimony!

A few weeks ago, Vincent called us for help.

He was having a bad day. The lady he had been staying with kicked him out. The KFC job he finally got had told him not to come back for a few weeks (while the manager was out for surgery). He was INSIDE a church asking for help. He said he was hungry. He told us the lady inside their cafe said to him, "We don't do that here, but we'll pray for you, and you can use my phone."

Pause. Let that sink in a minute. Another post for another day....
Back to this story.

He called us. We had had a busy Monday and had not gotten any of our homeschool or work done. It was Tuesday morning and I was ready to hit the day. This call was not on my schedule. But, what do you say when the church has offered no help and this man is calling you for help?

Of course I was inconvenienced and had to fight my flesh. I said to my husband, "We're about to have breakfast, tell him he can come over and eat with us."

While he was on the way, I did not know what would come about, but I knew that we would have to trust the Lord with the day and just offer to feed him.

Long story short, we ended up spending over 2-3 hours ministering to him and sharing stories of what God has done in our financial life. Scott started telling him he was in a spiritual battle and he needed to tithe. After we read about the widow giving all she had (in the Gospels), he took all the money out of his pockets, pushed it across the table, and went all in.  Since we were ministering to him, he gave us all his tithe (our first ever in our ministry)!  It was $1.80.

I pretty much guaranteed him God would respond to him (based on Scripture). I read Malachi and Corinthians verses out loud and professed the Word. We gave him one of our Bibles with the verse highlighted.

Today, we ran into him. About 2 weeks later.

God started answering his tithe the very next day!

First, he was talking with a man in a store.
He ended up telling the man, "God is going to give me a job at Denny's."
The man started arguing with him and saying, "No He won't."
Vincent would argue, "Yes, He is."
This continued back and forth.
Finally, the man pulled out a $50 bill and handed it to Vincent.
Vincent said the man had tears in his eyes and he told him that he was a preacher and he was just testing his faith to see if he really believed God was going to provide for him.

Now, I think this is a bit cruel and awesome all at the same time!
Is anyone thinking Abraham and Isaac here?

I mean, we sat there for HOURS building him up with faith story after faith story. He got all pumped up, so much that he was willing to trust God - reach into his pockets and put all he had in.  The very next day, a stranger starts testing his faith! He stood strong and kept confessing it, and finally the stranger turns out to be a preacher and blesses him with $50!

After that, Vincent says he was invited by some people to hang out with them. He gave them his testimony about our family, his tithe, etc... and he ended up winning a whole stack full of Chick-Fil-A vouchers!

Because he had been reading that highlighted word ("The Lord gives seed to the sower"), he says he knew this was seed God was giving him, so he ended up blessing OTHER PEOPLE with them!

Another event was someone walking up to him and blessing him with a $20 gift card to Taco Bell, and he also had random cash come into his possession (including KFC overpaying him on his last paycheck)!

Today, he has $150 in his bank account and $30 in his pocket! I think that was on top of the Taco Bell gift card.

That's 100 FOLD RETURN!

He gave 100% and got back 100 FOLD RETURN!

We've seen 10 FOLD many times from our giving to the Lord and even one time over 30%, but even we have not seen 100 FOLD.

But, we read about it in the Word of God. It's available!

When Scott got home and told me they had run into Vincent, at the library, and his story - I was overcome with such joy! I KNEW God would answer his tithe - but I still was in awe of how quickly and how precise He did.

I jumped in the car (with the girls - my enthusiasm was contagious to them), and we raced up there to find him on his bicycle. We invited him to our house for lunch so we could celebrate the goodness of God. (And, yes - I had a full day already planned for us. My work is undone, my house is a wreck, the kid's "schooling" did not get touched today, but we had to celebrate this!)

There are still battles for him to fight (ie. fear of spending any of the money he saved to get him to the next level in his life), but He saw that God is faithful to His Word. He knows it, and nothing (no poverty, no person) can steal that from him.

Our 9 year old said, "I am so tickled. We told him and now he will be able to tell others....".
She gets it.

I hope it blesses you and I hope it has opened you up a little bit more to blessing others who need you.

I also hope no one standing inside a church building will ever say to another hurting one, "We cannot help you." Friends, if people cannot come into a church building (that is supposed to represent the body of Christ) and find rest for their spirit, minds, and body - what hope do they have?

We musn't be too busy to answer the calls, or we'll be too busy to see God.

So many lessons in this story.

What will you do with this?
